I Love You, Man.
As previously mentioned, I practically worship Paul Rudd. The guy is a genius, and he is funnier than I think I've ever found an actor, bar Jim Carrey. I saw this film twice, and I wasn't disappointed the second time; rather, I found myself noticing new things as well as appreciating the humour from the first time round. I was mildly put off when Jason Segel sported an Uggs/shorts combination outfit, but I quickly got over it. The film is based around emotion, as Peter Klaven prepares for his upcoming wedding. Coming to the realization, as many men do, that he doesn't have enough friends for a full wedding party, he decides to do something about it and go out there and find friends. This involves some hilarious man-dating, set-ups by parents and friends, and ultimately results in the friendship between Peter and Sydney. This friendship quickly starts consuming his life, as he revels in having found a friend after so long. Naturally, the fiancee starts getting annoyed by the amount of time he's devoting to his new friend, and things take a turn for the worse. Of course, like all romantic films, there's a happy ending and the breakdown of a barrier between two male friends - the ability to say "I love you, Man".
Ultimately, it's not one that I'd watch repeatedly, but not one that I would turn down watching. It's funny enough, but slightly too based around the emotional aspect for me, and I found that the film spent a disproportionate amount of time observing the blossoming friendship, whereas all other characters were ignored. Worth a watch, but perhaps not one to buy.
