Clash of the Titans
Clash of the Titans offers a menage-a-trois of poor choices; bad casting, bad special effects and bad script-writing. Enduring the movie was a rollercoaster, as some special effects truly were spectacular, but the rest seemed to be lagging in 1980. Set in Greece, the movie baffled me as everybody in the film had a different accent. I'm not suggesting that the movie would have benefitted from everyone in it trying to put on a fake Greek accent, but having English, Australian and whatever else mingled together made it slightly confusing and unrealistic. Every time the scene changed to Zeus and the Gods in the sky, it was a painful and embarrassing hark back to the old 80's roman/greek films, from the decor to the costuming. The action sequences were good, and the film tried to relate to the audience by having 2 comic figures to laugh and joke with, but altogether it was a poor attempt to fulfil a film that had a lot of potential.
