The Dark Knight.
Arguably the most talked-about film of the century, The Dark Knight is another in the Batman series. Bruce Wayne/Batman continues in his plight to rid Gotham City of evil, aided by the elusive Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent. Finally wanting to eradicate organised crime from the city, Wayne realises that there is a new terror in the town in the way of the Joker, a criminal mastermind with a psychopathic way of terrorising people. Throwing the city into chaos, Batman and the Joker's fight becomes personal, and friends are dragged into the fight too with alarming consequences.
This film is dark and very unsettling. It doesn't have the graphic horror that would warrant a higher certificate, but it has the intensity of evil that should have granted it. I would never take a child to see this movie, and I've already heard reports that children have been crying during it and having to leave. The film basically takes on the question of good and evil and whether we have the beliefs and scruples to get by in a society which seems to be plummeting downwards.
Personally, I didn't like the film. I was very much unsettled by the sense of evil and of no remorse. Technically, the film is very well-done. I liked the graphics and the attention to detail, but felt that they went far too over-the-top for what is being advertised as a 12A.
